Location: Uttarakhand, India (near Ramnagar)
Established: 1936 (India’s first national park)
Project Tiger: First park under Project Tiger in 1973
Area: ~1,200 sq. km

Jim Corbett National Park

Located in Madhya Pradesh, India, Kanha is one of India’s largest and most well-maintained tiger reserves.

Established in 1955 and declared a Tiger Reserve in 1973 under Project Tiger

Spread over 940 sq. km of core area and 1,940 sq. km including buffer zones, it is a mix of sal and bamboo forests, open meadows, and water bodies.

Established: 1968 (Declared a Tiger Reserve in 1993 under Project Tiger)

Area: ~105 sq. km (core) and 716 sq. km (total including buffer)


Tiger Density: One of the highest tiger populations in India

Location: Alwar District, Rajasthan, India


Established: Declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1955; became a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger in 2000


Area: ~881 sq. km


Wildlife: Bengal Tigers, Leopards, Nilgai, Hyenas, Chinkara, Sambar, over 250 bird species


Tiger Conservation: Revived tiger population through translocation efforts

Location: Sawai Madhopur District, Rajasthan, India


Established: Declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1955; became a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger in 1980

Wildlife: Bengal Tigers, Leopards, Wild Boar, Chital, Hyenas, Crocodiles, over 320 species of birds
