Located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, Sariska Tiger Reserve spreads over an area of about 881 sq km in the Aravalli mountain range. Once the hunting ground of the Alwar royal family, it was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1955 and became a Tiger Reserve in 1978 under Project Tiger


The landscape is a blend of dry deciduous forests, rocky hills, grasslands, and valleys, making it a haven for wildlife and a delight for nature lovers.


Major species: Bengal tiger, leopard, hyena, jackal, wild boar, sambar, nilgai, chital, and langur.


Birdlife: Over 200 species of birds, including peafowls, eagles, partridges, sand grouse, and vultures.

Zone 1 – Sariska Gate (Main Entry Zone)

  • The most popular and frequently visited zone.
  • Known for tiger and leopard sightings.
  • Includes famous points like Pandupol, Kankwari Fort, and Tarunda Watchtower.
  • Easiest access from the main Sariska entry gate.


Zone 2 – Kundli Zone

  • Rich in dense forests and water bodies.
  • Offers good chances of spotting deer, langurs, peacocks, and occasionally tigers.
  • Less crowded compared to Zone 1, providing a more peaceful safari experience.

Zone 3 – Kalighati Zone

  • Considered one of the best zones for tiger sightings.

RTDC Hotel Tiger Den located at the entrance of Sariska Tiger Reserve, making it a very convenient choice for safari-goers.


It is run by Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) and offers a variety of room-types: Non-AC, AC, Suites, Family rooms. 


ariff (as of April 2025) for AC rooms: approx ₹2,000 single / ₹2,500 double on CP (Room + Breakfast) plan; Non-AC from ~₹1,500 single.


Apart from RTDC there are several private options available like Sariska Lodge, Sariska Tiger Heaven , BlueO Stays etc .

🚙  How to Reach


  • From Delhi: ~200 km (4 – 5 hours) via NH48 (Delhi–Jaipur Highway) and then local roads
  • From Jaipur: ~100-110 km (2 to 3 hours) via Dausa → Rajgarh → Tehla route



✈️ By Air

  • Nearest airport is Jaipur International Airport (JAI), about 110 km from Sariska. From the airport you can hire a taxi or rent a car to reach the reserve.
  • After landing, you’ll still need 2-3 hours of travel by road to reach the reserve.

  • October to June – Ideal for tiger sightings and exploring the park’s natural beauty.
    (Monsoon months, July–September, are generally closed for safaris.)
