Best Time to Visit

One-night stay at Merak is essential to witness the ever-changing shades of Pangong Lake and enjoy a perfect star-gazing experience under Ladakh’s clear skies.

If you are traveling from Leh, start your journey early, as it takes 6–7 hours through rugged terrain with several off-road stretches. Arriving in time allows you to capture the perfect sunset from the tranquil banks of Pangong.

For travelers seeking more facilities and commercial options, Spangmik is the preferred choice. However, for adventure lovers, photographers, and nature enthusiasts, Merak is the ideal, lesser-known spot, offering serenity away from crowds.

Travel Tip: Avoid consuming liquor or alcohol at high altitudes, as it can increase the risk of altitude sickness.
